Navratri celebrated at GIIS Surat with Virtual Garba Session

The most exuberant festival that celebrates life, culture, traditions, and customs, Navratri is the soul of Indian festivals that fall in October. With an aim to spread joy and happiness, Global Indian International School, Surat had celebrated the Navratri festival by doing the Garba on October 23, 2020, through a virtual mode. The celebration began with virtual prayers and  Garba sessions.

The word "Garba" is also used to refer to the event at which the Garba is performed. Garba is a traditional Gujarati folk dance and song which is performed mainly during the nine-day Navratri festival and is famous the world over. The folk dance is performed by everyone, and people of different religious beliefs enjoy it.

As part of the event, the students were told about the importance of the nine days of Navratri and about the ‘nine forms’ of Goddess Durga, and how the Navratri celebration symbolizes victory over evil.

Our tiny tots dressed up in all bright traditional Gujarati attire and enjoyed dancing to the rhythm of dandiya beats at the comfort of their homes. The children’s joy knew no bounds and for some, it was an experience of a lifetime.

The Garba event became an excellent example of the celebration of tradition with joy and fervor at its fullest along with the discipline of the student.

All the students enjoyed it a lot and exchanged Navratri wishes.
