In 1927-28 the farmers of a small taluka of Surat district in Bombay Presidency severely resisted the British Government against the exorbitant rise of agriculture tax. The command of agitation was wrested in the hands of an iron-willed personality like Vallabhbhai Patel. It was regenerated with tremendous energy and the sleeping countrysides of Bardoli became famous, planting a milestone in the history of freedom struggle of India. Its leader Vallabhbhai Patel emerged as the great commander, Sardar.
To immortalise memories of Bardoli Farmers Movement. On January 22nd 1981 opened the museum for general public. This museum, introduces us with life and personality of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel along with descriptions of historical events of farmers movements of Bardoli of 1928. Rooms from 1 to 5 show photographs of Sardars childhood. In rooms 6 to 17 we see rare photographs of history of Bardoli movement. In rooms 15 to 17 there are photographs of Sardars post independence activities.
GIIS Surat salutes the Great Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To celebrate his birthday GIIS students visited the museum and learned about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patels life & his valuable contribution to the spirit of India.
