The morning of 15th August 2022 witnessed a patriotic environment all around the campus of GIIS, Smart Campus, Hadapsar, Pune. To sensitize the students about the significance of this day and to enable them to know the sacrifices made by our great leaders, a wonderful programme was organised in the school.

The hoisting of the national flag is a symbolic expression of India's rise as an independent nation and the end of British rule. To commemorate this auspicious day, the school principal, Dr D Lakshmi Prasanna hoisted the national flag with great pride and honour. The tricolour dress code raised high spirits among all the members of GIIS.

Students were smartly dressed according to their respective House colours – Hibiscus House, Chrysanthemum House, Sunflower House and Orchid House. They were all set to showcase their teamwork through the march past.

‘Freedom is never given; it is won.’ ‘With Freedom, comes responsibilities’ were the key highlights of the inspirational speech by the school principal. The School Captain, Yug Dhawan’s speech was equally motivational. A speech in our national language, Hindi, delivered by Daksh Madhbushi was truly enlightening.

To arouse a sense of oneness among each other, a carefully structured pyramid was displayed by young gymnasts. A dynamic dance performance by students, which was truly breathtaking – added life and gusto to the celebrations.

A musical tribute to our nation through the school choir and music band was praiseworthy and spectacular.

The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations was implemented to encourage everyone in the vicinity to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to honour the 75th year of India's independence. So, as a mark of honour and respect, our students implemented this noble act at home. Pictures of the students holding the flag along with their family members added charm to the celebrations.

To show love and affection towards the country, the young patriots displayed a truly outstanding show. Let your spirits fly high with the Indian flag today and forever. Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind.
