Global Li’l Star 2020 offered tiny tots a platform to showcase their talent

“Every child is a different kind of flower. All together they make this world a beautiful garden.”

GIIS strongly believes that healthy childhood development depends largely on an environment which encourages active learning and a well-rounded education. Therefore, the knowledge, skills, and values learned at GIIS stay with students throughout their lives.

One such platform provided by GIIS for the pre-primary kids is Global Li’l Star (GLS) and is the most sought-after event every year. It is a colossal platform for the budding talents to showcase their creativity, along with their parents. It not only recognizes the uniqueness of each child but also enables them to reach their fullest potential through a competitive spirit.

The pandemic could not deter the conduction of this event. This year, the event was conducted virtually by Global Indian International School, Smart Campus Hadapsar for the pre-primary section, and Grades 1 & 2 on 28th Nov’ 2020. Over 230 registrations were received with the active participation of about 193 kids from various schools, which itself talks about the popularity of this coveted event.

In its 2nd edition for GIIS Hadapsar, the students of Pre-primary competed for the competitions like rhyme recitation, cartoon character, rhyme with the puppet and ad-mad show, besides story-telling & individual talent show, which too saw enthusiastic participation. The confidence and poise with which the little munchkins showcased their talent was just awe-inspiring.

Viewers also enjoyed stories and duet dance performances of students from grade 1. Students of grade 2 rocked the event in a fancy dress competition and the fashion show left the audience absolutely stunned.

Not only did the students but their parents too mesmerised the audience with their performances. All the events were so exciting that the audience could not stop appreciating the participants.

Utilizing the pool of experienced teachers across GIIS campuses, Ms. Vijaya Mahendra (Coordinator, Secondary Segment, GIIS Smart Campus, Balewadi) and Ms. Priya Johari (Pre-Primary Coordinator, GIIS Smart Campus, Balewadi) were invited to judge the pre-primary competitions. At the same time, Ms. Jeelu Varghese (Coordinator, Primary wing, GIIS Whitefield) and Aaradhana Acharya (English Faculty, GIIS Whitefield) had a tough time choosing the top three positions for primary competitions. The judges in their speech laid emphasis on the necessity of extra-curricular activities and thanked the event committee, teachers, students, and their parents for putting up such a phenomenal program.

Sharing her comments on the successful conduction of this event, Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna – Principal, GIIS Smart Campus, Hadapsar said, “It’s a proud moment indeed, as GIIS, through Global Li’l Star, could provide a platform to all these kids to showcase their talent even during this pandemic. We left no stone unturned to put up the best virtual show proving that nothing comes in the way when the objective is clear in mind, and we shall do whatever it takes to ensure that the latent talent of the growing kids is nurtured well and given the right direction.”

The programme concluded with the thank you note of the academic co-ordinator, Ms. Sharmistha Sinha.
