Addressing Global Warming to future of the World; GIIS Hadapsar sensitizes students

Global Indian International School strives for holistic learning and development of its students. We at GIIS Hadapsar, believe there's an equally larger world outside the books, and we strive to walk our children on the path by providing them knowledge and experiences they need to take a step further towards being a better human.

The co curricular activities, like, Thinking Thursday and I care, give children hands-on experience on the subjects beyond textbooks. Topics like deforestation, taking care of books, helping one another and sharing with each other, etc.are taken up to sensitize children to the importance of values-based learning.

This month, children were introduced to the concept of Global Warming, its effects, and its causes. They were shown videos, and presentations for the introduction and were later given first-hand, on-field experience of the same. GMP students learned how basic concepts like reuse and recycling are the biggest solutions to major problems like Global Warming. They understood all they need to do is make one conscious decision that is for the better or the worse of our planet. They planted saplings at the school premises to make a change and choose for the betterment.

Primary grades were engaged in activities that encouraged students to learn to make an impact. Grade I-III gave presentations and spread awareness through flashcards and posters. Whereas, grade IV students segregated dry and wet waste at school and at their homes. They had brought sun-dried wet waste and collected it all in a compost bin, to give the planet back from our little efforts and make its soil enriched.  Grade V students brainstormed and made a list of the ideas to keep the green area intact, and even make it bigger and larger.

The sooner the problem is addressed, the better it is for us. GIIS supports each individual on their journey to a better future with learning beyond education, one day at a time.
