October Shines with Learning, Creativity, and Cultural Spirit at GIIS Nagpur

Dear Parents,

Greetings from GIIS, Nagpur

The month of October at GIIS Lava, Nagpur, was filled with learning, creativity, and celebration, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education and value-based learning.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, students from Nursery to Grade 2 paid their heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation. The celebration featured a thematic walk symbolising the Dandi March and the Salt Satyagraha, during which children, dressed in traditional attire, carried inspiring placards bearing messages of Truth, Non-Violence, and Patriotism.
A touching skit by the pre-primary students depicted key moments from Gandhiji’s life, reinforcing his values of simplicity and peace. Teachers further enriched the experience by sharing anecdotes from Gandhiji’s journey, connecting his timeless teachings to modern life. The event concluded with patriotic songs and reflections on how Gandhiji’s principles continue to guide us today.

GIIS Lava, Nagpur, also celebrated the vibrant festivals of Navratri and Dussehra with joy and devotion. A special puppet show captivated the young audience, narrating the stories of Goddess Durga’s valour and Lord Rama’s triumph over Ravana. Students also experienced the cultural charm of Garba and Dandiya performances, symbolising unity and festive spirit. The event beautifully conveyed the message of the victory of good over evil, while joyfully promoting moral and cultural learning.

On 7th October 2025, students from Nursery to Grade 2 participated in an inspiring iCare activity on the theme “Best Out of Waste”. Using recycled newspapers, students created artistic and eco-friendly crafts, reinforcing the values of sustainability, creativity, and responsibility.
Aligned with the 9 GEMS holistic learning framework, the activity encouraged innovation, ethical awareness, and environmental care. The smiles and pride on the students’ faces as they showcased their creations reflected the success of the initiative, nurturing a lifelong appreciation for recycling and mindful living.

The month concluded with a refreshing Green Day Celebration on 10th October 2025, promoting environmental awareness and healthy living. Children dressed in delightful shades of green, symbolising growth and harmony with nature. The highlight of the day was a Vegetable Salad Making Activity, where students joyfully prepared colourful salads using fresh vegetables, learning about nutrition, hygiene, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
The event beautifully blended fun with learning, encouraging young learners to appreciate nature and adopt good eating habits.

Adding to the month’s excitement, the Global School Exchange Programme was successfully conducted on 13th October 2025 between Witty Kids, Bhilwara (Rajasthan) and GIIS Nagpur Campus for K1 students.
The interactive session focused on early literacy development through engaging activities, emphasising letter recognition, phonics, and vocabulary building. At the Witty Kids Campus, children explored the letter ‘P’, revising previously learned sounds through fun vocabulary games. Meanwhile, at the Nagpur Campus, students discovered the letter ‘Q’ through an interactive story session featuring a queen, quilt, and quail.
Activities such as clay modelling of the letter ‘Q q’, peg matching, and sort-and-colour exercises strengthened their fine motor and cognitive skills.

The collaborative session was filled with laughter, curiosity, and learning — a delightful exchange that combined fun with foundational literacy, making it a memorable and enriching experience for the little learners.

October at GIIS Lava, Nagpur, truly embodied the spirit of learning, celebration, and care, nurturing young hearts to grow into responsible, creative, and compassionate global citizens.
