Green Day Celebration at GIIS Nagpur Inspires Love for Nature and Healthy Living

“We heal the Earth, we heal ourselves” - Sundarlal Bahuguna

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Nagpur, celebrated Green Day with tremendous excitement and enthusiasm, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the beauty and essence of nature. The day aimed to instill environmental awareness among young learners and help them appreciate the significance of greenery in maintaining a healthy planet. Students came dressed in different shades of green, symbolising growth, freshness, and harmony with the environment.

Teachers engaged students in interactive discussions about the importance of the colour green, explaining how it symbolises life, balance, and renewal. They also spoke about simple actions like planting trees, avoiding waste, and conserving water, which help keep Earth green and clean.

A key highlight of the celebration was the Vegetable Salad Making Activity, which allowed children to explore healthy eating habits in a fun and practical manner. Bringing along freshly chopped vegetables such as cucumbers, carrots, and tomatoes, the students mixed their ingredients to create colourful salads. Through this engaging activity, they learnt about the importance of consuming fresh vegetables and maintaining a balanced diet, linking good nutrition to overall well-being.

Sharing her thoughts on the activity, Principal Ms. Nidhi Gupta said, “Green Day provides our students with meaningful opportunities to understand sustainability and the value of making mindful choices. We aim to nurture environmentally responsible citizens who appreciate the connection between nature, health, and happiness.”

The celebration beautifully combined learning, creativity, and fun. It encouraged students to adopt a greener lifestyle while deepening their love for nature. Through such initiatives, GIIS Nagpur continues to promote holistic education that nurtures both environmental consciousness and healthy living.
