Dear Parents,
Greetings from GIIS, Nagpur!
At Global Indian International School, Nagpur, the month was filled with vibrant celebrations, meaningful learning experiences, and inspiring student achievements that reflected the true spirit of holistic education. Our young learners celebrated Holi with great enthusiasm and purpose. Grade 1B conducted a special assembly where students beautifully narrated the story of Prahalad and Holika, spreading the values of faith, goodness, and unity. The celebration was further enhanced with energetic dance performances by students of Grades 1 and 2, followed by a delightful Flower Holi for Nursery to Grade 2, promoting a safe and eco-friendly way of celebrating while creating colourful and joyful memories.
Students of Grades 1 to 5 actively participated in the Rangrezz Activity – Swachh Bharat, Swachh Shehar, where they spread awareness about cleanliness and healthy living. An engaging and interactive session by RJ Aamod from 94.3 My FM motivated students to adopt clean habits and become responsible citizens. Their creativity shone through a lively drawing competition, where they expressed their vision of a clean and green India with great enthusiasm.
Learning extended beyond textbooks as students from Nursery to Grade 2 explored the fascinating theme of Rocket Science during the Thinking Thursday activity. Through a simple and engaging rocket experiment, children understood the basic concept of force and motion. Watching a real rocket launch video further sparked their curiosity and excitement, encouraging them to observe, predict, and ask questions, thereby nurturing early scientific thinking in a fun and interactive manner.
Adding to their skill development, students attended an enriching masterclass by RJ Aamod, where they learned the art of confident communication, voice modulation, and effective speaking through enjoyable and interactive activities. The session also highlighted the power of radio in spreading social awareness, encouraging students to think about important issues such as environmental protection and reducing plastic usage. The experience brought out enthusiastic participation and gave students a glimpse into the world of radio through engaging “RJ moments.”
A memorable field trip to the Indian Air Force Museum provided students from Nursery to Grade 2 with an opportunity to explore real aircraft, pilot uniforms, aeroplane models, and historical photographs. Teachers shared interesting facts about aviation and its role in protecting the nation, making the visit both educational and exciting. The experience enhanced students’ observation, listening, and social skills while igniting curiosity about the world around them.
Environmental consciousness was further strengthened through an i-Care activity aligned with SDG 12 and SDG 15, where students engaged in creative, eco-friendly projects. Pre-primary students crafted wristbands using dry leaves, petals, and twigs, while students of Grades 1 and 2 created bookmarks using real flower petals and leaves. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for nature and sustainability.
The school also hosted QUIZATHON 2026, an engaging and competitive quiz based on sustainability and celestial wonders. Students from all four houses participated with great enthusiasm and displayed impressive knowledge and teamwork. Sunflower House secured the first position, followed by Chrysanthemum House, making the event both exciting and intellectually stimulating.
Students showcased both creativity and patriotism in the Veer Gatha Project Scrapbook Contest, where they presented inspiring stories of India’s brave soldiers through artwork and thoughtful reflections. Siya Hedaoo and Siddharth Murkhe were recognised for their outstanding presentations and were awarded prizes, including bicycles, certificates, and gifts. The initiative successfully nurtured creativity while instilling respect and admiration for the nation’s heroes.
Creativity was further explored through a photography workshop organised in collaboration with Nikon School of Creativity, guided by expert photographer Arya Chitra. Students learned the basics of camera handling and explored creative composition techniques. The session sparked curiosity and imagination among learners and was made even more special with enthusiastic participation from parents.
Young learners from Pre-Primary to Grade 2 also engaged in the Math Magic Activity, where mathematical concepts were brought to life through hands-on learning. From numbers and patterns to subtraction, time, and shapes, students explored concepts in an interactive and enjoyable manner, building a strong foundation for mathematical thinking.
Special assemblies conducted by different grades added great value and meaning to the month. The K2 students presented an impactful assembly on “Save Water, Save Life,” featuring a thoughtful skit, vibrant dance performances, and a meaningful pledge taken by both students and parents to conserve water. Similarly, KG1 students conducted an assembly on “Save Forest, Save Earth,” spreading awareness about environmental conservation through engaging performances, a collective pledge, and active parent participation. The Nursery students presented an informative assembly on Road Safety, where they learned about traffic signals, safe crossing practices, and responsible behaviour on roads. Through participation in these assemblies, students developed confidence, communication skills, and a sense of discipline and responsibility.
Overall, the month stood as a beautiful reflection of learning beyond the classroom, where education was seamlessly blended with creativity, values, and real-life experiences. With the continuous support of dedicated teachers and parents, our students continue to grow into confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals, making every moment at school meaningful and memorable.
Warm regards,
Nidhi Gupta
