Dear Parents,

July month belonged to our students at GIIS Nagpur as they shone bright on the stage and in the assemblies through their originality and creativity. This month was all about the House assembly which was conducted with immense participation from all the four houses namely – Chrysanthemum, Sunflower, Orchid and Hibiscus.

Chrysanthemum house assembly revolved around Clean Water and Sanitation and was a pleasant surprise as compared to a regular academic assembly. The house displayed an impressive skit which made us realize the water crisis and the need of the hour for conserving water in a much better way. The speeches about conservation made us realize the responsibility it will entail for the citizens of tomorrow and the students displayed a beautifully curated presentation, which in turn was a result of extensive research conducted by them.

Sunflower House on 30th July, displayed a brilliant and vibrant assembly about Van Mahotsav which included school prayer, pledge on Vanmahotsav, a beautifully recited poetry and a mesmerizing dance performance which depicted the bond of harmony, humanity and nature.

Orchid house on World Emoji day portrayed a topic close to the hearts of all parents and students – Misuse of Emojis and the different contexts it creates with the same emoji. The students presented a situational humorous skit which showed us what exactly can go wrong if one is not particular about emoji usage. A topic such as this never fails to engage the audience and the students did a brilliant job by connecting with the audience on this amusing yet relevant topic.

Hibiscus house assembly on 15th July shed light on “Affordable and Clean Energy,” sensitising students to the importance of clean energy and the role Nagpur is playing in this global goal. The students connected the theme to local initiatives such as the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana, solar street lights and the MIHAN Solar Park through an informative speech, and reinforced the message with a well-researched skit. The assembly left the audience with a valuable takeaway – that clean energy is not just an environmental responsibility but also a cost-saving one, and that everyday actions like switching off fans and making the most of sunlight can add up to a meaningful impact.

This month also witnessed the organising of Investiture Ceremony on 24 th July, in the school auditorium, to felicitate the newly elected student council members. The ceremony witnessed active participation from many students elected to various positions of authority in the student council. The students who were elected to the body of councillors, monitors and monitors assistants, took oath in the presence of our esteemed guests – CA Ms. Swaroopa S. Wazalwar, Mr. Arvind Temurnikar, Mrs. Neeta Temurnikar, and Mr. Kedar Gokhale. The event began with a welcome song and an energetic dance performance by the student council members. The chief guest encouraged the new members to serve selflessly with a sense of responsibility and integrity. Our Principal also motivated the new council members saying that it is important to remember that the best way to serve is with a heart full of empathy. The ceremony was conducted with great enthusiasm and marked the beginning of a new journey for our student council members at GIIS Nagpur.

Apart from the above-mentioned events, Kargil Vijay Diwas and Friendship week were celebrated with much enthusiasm and patriotism across the school premises with students paying tribute to our Kargil Martyrs and our young ones in the nursery cherishing the spirit of friendship.

Looking Ahead

As we enter the month of August, we look forward to building upon the excitement, participation and inclusiveness shown by all, across the school, during the month of July.
