Janmashtami Celebrated by Nursery to Grade 2 Students at GIIS Nagpur

Students from Nursery to Grade 2 at GIIS Nagpur celebrated Janmashtami on 3 September 2026 with dance, music, drama and devotional performances. Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna. The school planned the programme so that its youngest students could learn the story behind the festival and take part in it themselves.

The celebration began with a short assembly presented by Grade 1A. An explanation of the significance of Janmashtami followed. The students heard the story of Lord Krishna's birth and learned about the values connected to his life: love, kindness, courage and helping others. For children this young, the story and its values came first, and the performances built on them.

After the assembly, students from different classes took the stage. They danced, sang, acted and presented devotional items, and they performed with confidence and excitement. Their energy added colour to the programme and kept the festive mood going from one item to the next.

The Grade 2 dance drama brought Krishna's childhood to life on stage. The Nursery and Kindergarten classes also performed, and their items showed the innocence and enthusiasm of the youngest children in the school. The songs and the bhajan dance gave the programme a joyful, devotional feel.

The celebration ended on a happy note. By the end, the children had a clearer understanding of Janmashtami and of the values associated with Lord Krishna. The programme also gave students a platform to express themselves, and it introduced them to Indian culture and traditions through story, song and movement. The day closed with the whole group having celebrated together as one school community.
