In an effort to cultivate environmental awareness from an early age, GIIS Nagpur organised an engaging ‘iCare’ activity for students from Nursery to Grade 2. The initiative was thoughtfully designed to introduce young learners to sustainable practices and environmental conservation in a fun and hands-on manner.
Aligned with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), the activity aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the environment from an early age. Students actively participated in creative, eco-friendly craft sessions that encouraged them to connect with nature while learning the importance of sustainability.
Showcasing their creativity, pre-primary students crafted eco-friendly wristbands using natural materials such as dry leaves, petals, and twigs. At the same time, students from Grades 1 and 2 designed beautiful bookmarks using real flower petals and leaves, promoting the concept of reuse and deepening their appreciation for plant life and biodiversity.
Guided by clear learning objectives, the activity focused on helping students understand responsible consumption, value nature, and enhance their creativity and fine motor skills through eco-friendly crafts. It also encouraged them to adopt small, meaningful actions that contribute to environmental well-being.
Overall, the iCare activity turned out to be a joyful and enriching experience, inspiring young minds to think creatively about sustainability while strengthening their bond with nature. It reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious and responsible individuals from the very beginning of their learning journey.
