Global Indian International School Nagpur, organised the iPlay Dental Clinic Activity, an interactive initiative designed to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of oral hygiene in a fun and engaging way. The activity, tailored across the Nursery, K1, and K2 age groups, combined storytelling, hands-on practice, and guided learning to help children build healthy dental habits from an early age.

The session opened with an informative storytelling segment for Nursery students, where educators used narrative and visual aids to introduce the concept of healthy teeth and why oral care matters. The storytelling format allowed young children to absorb the message through characters and simple, relatable scenarios rather than direct instruction.

K1 students moved into the Brushing the Teeth Activity, a hands-on session focused on demonstrating the correct brushing technique. Rather than simply being told how to brush, children practiced the motion themselves, reinforcing muscle memory alongside the underlying lesson — that consistent, correct brushing is the first line of defense against cavities and gum issues.

For K2 students, the session took the form of the Take Out the Cavity Activity, a more conceptual exercise that helped children understand how cavities form and why neglecting dental hygiene has consequences. By making the cause-and-effect relationship tangible, the activity aimed to shift dental care from an abstract rule to something children could reason through themselves.

Across all three groups, the broader objective remained consistent: to introduce healthy lifestyle habits — brushing twice a day, eating nutritious food, and visiting the dentist regularly — while keeping the learning experience age-appropriate and enjoyable. The activity was structured to build not just awareness but confidence and curiosity, encouraging children to take ownership of their own hygiene practices rather than treating it as an externally imposed rule.

Faculty members involved in the activity noted that early-years health education works best when it's experiential rather than lecture-driven, which shaped the choice of storytelling and activity-based formats over traditional instruction.

The iPlay Dental Clinic Activity concluded successfully, with children leaving the session with both a clearer understanding of dental care and a positive association with the process of learning about it.
