GIIS Nagpur organised a series of Pre-Independence Day activities for students of Nursery to Grade 2, bringing parents into the celebrations and giving young learners a joyful, hands-on introduction to patriotism ahead of Independence Day.

The celebrations began on August 12th and 13th with "Sing with Mom" for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. Mothers joined their children to sing patriotic songs together, filling the classrooms with pride and enthusiasm. The activity gave students a chance to express their love for the nation through music, while also strengthening the bond between parent and child through a shared, joyful experience.

On August 14th, the celebrations continued with "Ramp Walk with Mom" for students from Nursery to K2. Dressed in the colours of the tricolour, young students walked the ramp alongside their mothers in a display of confidence and patriotic spirit. For the youngest learners at GIIS Nagpur, the activity was a gentle but meaningful way to connect with the idea of national pride, expressed through colour, movement, and togetherness with a parent.

Both activities were designed with clear learning outcomes in mind. "Sing with Mom" helped students build confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, alongside a growing sense of love for their country. "Ramp Walk with Mom" focused on building self-expression, confidence, and social skills, while reinforcing patriotic values in an age-appropriate, engaging format.

What stood out through both activities was the involvement of parents, particularly mothers, as active participants rather than spectators. For young children, learning alongside a parent makes abstract ideas like patriotism and national pride easier to understand and more memorable. The activities turned a classroom concept into a lived, shared experience between parent and child.
