The Annual Sports Day of the school was celebrated on 15th February, 2016 on the school playground with full zeal and enthusiasm.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Guests Prof. Dr. Ajay Sahani -Director of Physical Education DAVV Indore, Dr. Mamta Shrivastava-Principal of Mata Gujri Girls College of Professional Studies, Mr. Hemant Suri, Mr. Sumit Suri -Infrastructure Partners GIIS, Ms. Aditi Chakraborty- Marketing Head and Dr. Captain Dinisha Bhardwaj Singh -Principal, GIIS Indore.
The guests were felicitated by Principal GIIS, Indore with bouquet of flowers. The event started with the lighting of the torch by Prof. Dr. Ajay Sahani along with the Sports Captain, Head Boy, Head Girl and the House Captain followed by a big round of applause from the audience. Torch Lighting Ceremony symbolises spirit of life and purity. This was followed by Oath Taking Ceremony and the meet was declared open by the Chief Guest Dr. Mamta Shrivastava.
In the honour of the chief guests and guests of honour students brilliantly presented March past and Salutation. The GIIS Choir presented a motivational song for the players. All the students participated with great ardour and also with the spirit of sportsmanship. There was a special demonstration on Karate, Yoga and Physical Training. Tug of war was conducted for the parents and they were duly recognized.
The over-all House Championship Trophy was won by the Chrysanthemum House, whereas the Sunflower house was the Runners-Up. The chief guests distributed medals and certificates for the running events, mementoes to State & National Level Players of the school.
The guests addressed the parents and children whereby they explained the importance of sports in a student’s life. Ms. Aditi Chakraborty appreciated the Indore GIIS team for the wonderful performance of the GIIS Indore students in sports and other activities round the year and Prof. Dr. Ajay Sahani and Dr. Mamta Shrivastava connected sports to success of life. “Participation is as important as winning” said Dr. Captain Dinisha Bhardwaj Singh.
Retreat ceremony was accomplished with lot of warmth and depth that was followed by closing of the event with National anthem.
