Global Citizenship is a preparation for life at GIIS!
In an attempt to create a class-less and a boundary-less society, GIIS Noida and GIIS Ahmedabad partnered with Make a Difference (M.A.D) , a youth volunteer network, to organise a drawing competition for all their students.
Make A Difference (MAD) empowers children living in shelter homes and orphanages to discover their true strengths and unleash their full potential. It is a movement of young people taking the ownership of institutionalised children living in our community. MAD started in the year 2006 with the vision of imparting English language skills to children for better job prospects. M.A.D endeavors to create a self-sustainable and a safe ecosystem for the children to grow up in and develop their skills and personalities.
To sensitise each child at GIIS towards this cause, volunteers of MAD and the GIIS staff shared videos and presentations on the need for upliftment of these less fortunate children. A registration fee of Rs. 50/- was collected from each GIIS student, which would fund the education of children living in various street shelters hence, every student was encouraged to participate with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.
It was heartening to see the understanding and consciousness the students exhibited and some of them asked their parents to participate as well. The staff and management of GIIS also participated in the drawing and painting competition and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The team MAD thanked GIIS for participating and making a difference in the lives of many.
“I have replicated the Amphitheatre on my drawing sheet. This competition took me back to my school days and it was a pleasant change sharing the same platform with the young students.” said Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, GIIS India.
