GIIS East Coast students celebrate the language and culture of France through French week

GIIS East Coast Campus celebrated French Week from 2nd to 6th August, for the students of classes 7 to 9.

Various activities were held to bring about appreciation of the nuances of the language as well as the culture and civilization of the country amongst the students.

The students of CBSE class 7 conducted research and created charts on the monuments, fashion, food and cities of France. As for the CLSP class 7 students, a skit titled “Une journée” was prepared and performed by the students themselves in the language.

A miniature zoo was put together by the students of CBSE class 8, which allowed them to learn about various animals in French. A TV broadcast session was conducted by the CLSP class 8 students divided into two sections, “La cuisine” and Quiz. Through this, the students were able to learn the names of some of the food items of France and the names of some varieties of cheese while enjoying a salad and cheese platter.

The students of CBSE class 9 created pencil sketches of the four seasons, describing them in French. This helped the students understand the language better and improve their oral skills. As for the IGCSE class 9 students, a French-themed treasure hunt was organized. The students wrote clues and the teacher hid the “treasure” in various spots.  They had to read the clues, understand them and find the treasure, making the exercise a fun way to learn the language.

Language week is celebrated every year to have students appreciate the languages spoken around the world as well as the culture and civilization of the respective countries. This eventful week focused on French and the students could learn the language efficiently through entertaining activities held.
