GIIS East Coast Campus, Singapore was part of the grand opening ceremony of Yarrow Park, a community park which opened on July 16, 2022, for the residents of the Joo Chiat Neighbourhood. Sized over 2000 sqm, the park boasts numerous recreational facilities which will benefit people from all age groups. 

GIIS East Coast has donated its basketball court which has been transformed into a children’s playground as well as an exercise park. It depicts the school’s commitment towards ‘Community Care’, one of the 9 GEMS of the school that it truly believes in.

As part of the event, the Sustainability Club of GIIS East Coast put up a stall to showcase all the sustainability initiatives which are being carried out by the campus including the Carbon Neutrality project, Birthday Plantation, Beach Clean-Up, and many others.

Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth was present at the event as Guest-of-Honour and appreciated the contribution made by the GIIS EC towards the opening of the park. As part of the event, Mr CVK Sastry, Principal GIIS EC delivered a speech and Mr Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-Founder, Global Schools Foundation graced the occasion with his presence as well.

The beautifully choreographed fusion dance performance ‘Devotion to Nature’, by the GIIS East Coast dance team was another highlight of the event.

GIIS East Coast in its aim to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations have made significant efforts to bring down its carbon footprints. The school strongly believes in promoting healthier living and fostering a stronger sense of community within our estate. And its contribution towards the opening of the community park stands as a true example of the school’s belief in giving back to society which it has always emphasised upon.
