Fathers exhibit great enthusiasm participating in a cricket tournament at East Coast Campus

The stadium of the GIIS East Coast Campus bustled with joy and excitement as the school organised GIIS Father’s Super Sixes Cricket Tournament, a thrilling tournament on Aug 13. The fathers of the students showcased their love for the game enthusiastically participating in the nail biting matches.

The day-long tournament witnessed thrilling matches being played amongst two groups consisting of seven teams each. The matches were played on two adjacent fields for efficient usage of time. The fathers toiled in the intense heat and battled for the coveted top two spots in each group.

Rain during lunch did not hamper the spirit of the fathers, who patiently waited until the skies cleared, allowing for the completion of the round-robin stage. The top team from the first group played against the second team from the second group and vice versa. In a nail-biting semifinal 1 on the first pitch, the Singa Kings, who won some close games in the group stage, edged out the Daddy Squad in a low-scoring thriller. On the other pitch, the Yamazaki, who swept the group stage with three wins, marched to a commanding win over Solaris in a game where sixes rained everywhere.

With the stage for the final set, the Singa Kings, in a nail-biting match, beat the Yamazaki to become the new champions of the Super Sixes tournament, with the game ending in climatic fashion with a six to chase the target down.

The awards ceremony was held at the stadium, with Principal, East Coast Campus, Mr CVK Sastry handing out the awards in the gracious presence of SMART Campus Principal, Ms Melissa Maria, and Country Director SIngapore, Mr Prashant Bafna, with individual trophies being given to all the deserving batsmen and bowlers. The teams were awarded with medals and an overall trophy.

The much-awaited event displayed immense enthusiasm, team spirit and zest on this special day. The engagement helped the fathers and the school community to strengthen their partnership, the best they can.
