Embracing new challenges with upgraded facilities

Dear parents,

As we all know, Singapore is going through a roller coaster ride with troubling troughs. We have again entered Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) and each day is bringing new challenges. As a responsible community, we are trying our best to keep the children safe by strictly adhering to the guidelines set by the Government. We are constantly reminding them to maintain social distance and wash their hands regularly. We are also ensuring that our school community is masked up at all times.

I am extremely happy to announce that GIIS East Coast has undergone major renovations during the summer holidays. We have upgraded our facilities and keeping in mind the ongoing scenario, have increased our iPad Bank sufficiently to facilitate the needs and learning of all students. New ergonomic furniture has been added for the comfort of the children and the school looks colourful and cheerful than ever with the new herb garden. The Design and Technology Studio too is fully functional now with better and adequate equipment.

To give the children some semblance of normalcy, GIIS, East Coast was the proud host of the Global Indian Star contest 2021. Students from all the GIISs campuses across the world as well as some local and international schools in Singapore took part, albeit virtually. After some grueling rounds of auditions, finally 20 participants each in the Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior category were selected for the Finals. Renowned musicians graced the Finals to inspire and boost the morale of the contestants.

It gives me immense pride and pleasure to announce that Aaratrika Mitra from East Coast Campus is the 1st runner up and the winner of the Golden Voice in the Sub- Junior Category.

Pranav Krishnan and Nehamirtha Sebastian are the joint 2nd runner ups in the Junior Category.

Heartiest congratulations and big applause to all the participants, the parents and the teachers. We owe this success to each one of you. You all were outstanding and winners in your own ways!

“That all this life can give us, is a child’s laughter…” by W. B. Yeats were the only words ringing in my ears on the day PYP classes of EC campus celebrated the Crazy Socks Day. Each child had walked confidently in, in their colourful, mismatched, and wacky pair of socks reminding each of us yet again how unique all of us are in our own way. The entire day was filled with giggles and crazy laughter as the children listened to hilarious songs and stories leading to adventures arising out of mismatched socks.

Another major event underway is Jhaankar 2021. We received overwhelming responses from all schools in Singapore and the Semifinal and Final will be conducted in August. Wishing all the participants who have come thus far, a roaring success.

May the colours and music never leave our lives.

Wishing you health, happiness and please stay safe.

Thank you.

Warm Regards

Principal
