Walking on the path of excellence every day

Dear parents,

It has been an energetic as well as a rewarding month at GIIS Bannerghatta. The month started with a Webinar on Social, Physical, and Emotional Well-Being. With the pandemic heralding an emphasis on providing the best of health and learning among children, the talk spearheaded by a notable medical professional, Dr. Jinsy Sam, gave a much-needed boost to all children. With her rich and valued expertise, she was a delight to watch and listen to. She breezed through a lot of exercises and routines to keep oneself healthy not just physically, but also, emotionally and socially.

The next highlight was a Panel discussion on FOSTERING SKILL-BASED LEARNING. It was a healthy exchange of ideas and a free-wheeling discussion on the myriad ways in which skill education could be imparted to today’s generation. Mr. Somanath Hawargi was our Guest Speaker, an eminent Career Navigator by profession. He opined that along with academics, now is the time to foster vocational, analytical, and creative skills in students in line with NEP guidelines laid out by the governing board. Parent Ms. Sneha Krishnamurthy and Teacher Ms. Rachita Shetty gave an educator and educated perspective to the discussion. All of us jointly believe that skill education is the way forward. Our motto will remain to bring out 21st century, future-ready citizens who are ready to face the challenges of life head-on.

The Reading Month currently underway for Grades 1 to 6 has ignited the joy of reading in many young minds. Reading is here to stay, despite the advent of technology, as our students read books of both Indian and foreign authors with great enthusiasm. Vocabulary week was also observed in conjunction with Reading Month as we believe the two go hand-in-hand. Children learned new words and solved crossword puzzles, as this was part of their vocabulary-enhancing exercise.

GIIS Bannerghatta added another award to its ever-growing excellence vision, the IMC Making Quality Happen Best Practices Trophy. These awards are a motivation for us to strive to achieve greater heights and not rest on our laurels.  Grade 6 Students participated in the Global Student Exchange on the topic “World Problems “ and emerged as Second runner’s up. They gave a healthy competition to students of GIIS campuses worldwide. Another proud moment. The first exams for the year for Grade 6 went on smoothly on the Ekalavvya Examination Portal.

To sum up, we continue on the path to excellence and every day is a new beginning.

Regards,

Dr. Sharmila Mallick Choudhuri
Principal, GIIS SMART Campus, Bannerghatta
