Safety Week brought a lot of awareness among students of GIIS Bannerghatta

Students across all the grades of GIIS Bannerghata had fun filling, learning time, practical knowledge as part of the Safety week. All the Safety rules pertaining to home, travel, the internet and when playing outside were some of the many topics discussed with the students. They were extremely happy with the fact that their children were aware of so many aspects of safety.

Safety measures during Covid 19

Children learnt how to take care of themselves and family members in this pandemic by wearing masks, washing hands and sanitizing their hands regularly to avoid various diseases.

Basics of Road safety

While doing a traffic light craft on the second day of the safety week, our young students learnt the significance of traffic signals and their implications. Kids also understood few rules that need to be followed while travelling, such as while driving one has to wear a seat belt and should not use mobile, and that good distance should be maintained between two vehicles. Children were told that they should not distract the driver while driving and the importance of zebra crossing too.

Fire and electricity safety at home

There was an interactive session between teachers and students where they shared their understanding about being safe at home in various ways. They were told to be careful while handling any sharp things or when near fire, not to play in the kitchen, not to climb onto any cupboards without elders’ presence.

Good touch and bad touch

Children learnt what is a good touch and bad touch by watching a video on the same. Teachers discussed in detail and gave important tips to kids on how to protect themselves when someone tried to behave inappropriately. They also watched a video on this topic.

Poster making and safety badge

The children made a safety badge signifying the importance of being safe and wrote “I am safe and secure at home". Kids also learnt that we have to stay at home during this pandemic and take care of ourselves.

Internet safety

The pandemic has changed the way of education, from physical classrooms to virtual classes. Teachers explained at length about internet safety. Students understood the danger of being bullied as most young people are a victim of it. Parents were advised to invest quality time with their wards on cyber safety and setting up passwords, and how they should set strict rules for cyber safety.
