GIIS Bannerghatta bustles with activities this September

September was the month of victories, celebrations, and enthralling events for GIIS Bannerghatta. We kick-started the month by conducting an Art Workshop for Primary students where they learned about Warli painting- a popular tribal art form of Maharashtra. During this workshop, kids also tried their hands on this amazing art form by painting a wall in the school and got around its great traditional and historical significance. The green background of the painting connected well with our school's green initiative which made the event even more special.

Pre-Primary segment had a great time this month as they got a lot of opportunities to participate in fun activities and celebrations. Starting with Yellow Day, where they learned about this bright primary colour through various engaging activities, kids also celebrated the festival of Onam with utmost zeal and fervour. Dressed in beautiful ethnic attires, teachers and students made Pookalam- Flower Rangoli, learned about the history of celebrating Onam, and danced to the tunes of traditional songs on this pious occasion.

“Everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home”, Anthony Liccione points it out rightly when he signifies the importance of growing in a loving family. Being guided by the warmth and wisdom of grandparents is a blessing and to honour the immeasurable love and efforts of family members, Pre Primary kids of GIIS Bannerghatta celebrated Family Day and Grandparents Day at the school campus. This occasion was graced by the lovely presence of kids' parents and grandparents who cheered for their stunning cultural performances and had a great time participating in various games and activities with them.

Observed on the birth anniversary of hockey wizard- Dhyan Chand Singh, National Sports Day is celebrated all over India on 29th August every year with massive zest and gusto. With sports excellence being one of the major pillars of 9GEMS, GIIS lays great emphasis on encouraging students to participate in sports activities throughout the year and leaves no stones unturned in supporting their talents. To highlight the importance of sports in our day-to-day life and also honour the sports legends of India, our primary and middle school students celebrated this occasion with remarkable spirit and enthusiasm. Where Grade 5 performed a special assembly to mark the significance of the day, Grade 4-8 students participated in drawing competition and inter-house running and football match exhibiting their brilliant sporting skills.

Activity-based learning helps students explore subjects on their own and sets their problem-solving skills in motion. Grade 6 & 7 students participated in many such intriguing exercises as part of their academic activities and got around interesting topics of Social Science in an engaging way.

Global Students Exchange program (GSE) at GIIS helps students participate and compete with their peers from different global campuses and exchange their ideas and learning. With this year's GSE on the topic "AI- Empowering Human Intelligence OR Overpowering?'', our students delved deeper into the world of AI and discussed its impact on humankind. It brings me great delight to share with you that both the teams from GIIS Bannerghatta performed brilliantly in the multiple rounds of the competition and made us proud by securing runner-up prizes. I congratulate all the participants on this achievement and wish them all the best for their bright futures.

Continuing the winning streak of our school, Nivaan Trisal from Grade 1 also showcased exceptional performance in the GSF Online Chess Tournament organized by GIIS Noida in collaboration with the UP-Sports Chess Association (UPSCA) & All India Chess Federation (AICF) and secured the 4th position out of all the participants from GIIS campuses across the world. I congratulate the young champ on this brilliant milestone and wish him all the success for his future endeavours.

To sum up, September was a great month for GIIS Bannerghatta and provided a lot of opportunities for our students to learn, explore, and achieve.
