A new month, a new chapter, a new page, and a new academic year

Dear Parents,

“A new month, a new chapter, a new page, and a new academic year”.  This is the month children generally step into the school and make it vibrant with their presence. GIIS Bannerghatta enters its second academic year in the virtual space and we hope to march on this journey until things take a turn for the better. The apprehensions we had last year, have vanished and I must say, we feel confident and all set to explore new things in the “new normal”.

The month of June was buzzing with activities aplenty.

We continued our pledge to conserve our environment with World Environment Day from the tiny tots watering plants to the older students pampering their surroundings with gardening activities such as sowing seeds, Hydroponics – soil-less plant cultivation, and making organic liquid manure. There was an exclusive 'GIIS Green Warrior' campaign on our social media platform that brought a great awareness among students with the help of engaging and insightful activities.

Next, we observed Safety week with a motto to instill the right safety mindset in our students.  Topics ranging from hygiene and immunity during the pandemic to road safety, fire safety, the importance of vaccinations, medicine safety, and cyber safety were covered. Awareness about “Good Touch and Bad Touch” a sensitive yet significant aspect of child safety was also touched upon.

In the recent Virtual Inter GIIS Educator and Staff Athleta 2021, conducted by GIIS Abu Dhabi, our two teachers have brought us accolades.  Ms. Bindu Kala secured the 2nd position in Catch and Clap and 3rd position in Skipping Female. Mr. Sri Sagar won gold in the Tap Up Tennis and in Bottle Flipping respectively. I congratulate them on their sportsmanship spirit.

Father’s Day reiterated the importance of parental love and respect and there was many a happy Father who was feted with hand-made, specially crafted gifts with an abundance of love.

Pre-Primary students celebrated Messy Day where children got to explore and experiment with different objects and raw materials like colors, dough, and starch. These were used to squish, squeeze, smear, splash, and smell, thus fostering their curiosity and imagination.

The Campus started its Kaizen Club with a lot of enthusiasm. This is an initiative that will foster change management at both the staff and student levels. Two student ambassadors have been identified who will help spread the message of “Change for the better”.

Indeed, it has been a rewarding first month of academics and holistic activities and we hope to keep the momentum going. There is more excitement and fun with learning in the next month. We will be conducting activities like theatre club, puppet show, webinars, and much more. GIIS Bannerghatta cares for the students and respects the valuable feedback of parents to bring new initiatives in teaching. Let’s make learning fun for students!

I hope all of you are taking good care staying home and staying safe.

Regards,

Dr. Sharmila Mallick Choudhuri
