Unity, Heritage, and Leadership: GIIS Ahmedabad Celebrates World Heritage Day

At GIIS, we view morning assemblies not merely as a daily routine, but as a strategic platform for student leadership and experiential learning. By handing the stage entirely to our young learners, we encourage them to develop public speaking confidence, creative expression, and a deep sense of global citizenship from an early age.

The morning energy at GIIS Ahmedabad reached an inspiring peak as our Grade 5A students took complete ownership of the school morning assembly, dedicating it to the global theme of World Heritage Day.

The assembly began with a school prayer and transitioned into an inspiring thought of the day about our shared duty to preserve history.

The young student presenters demonstrated commendable composure and shared the morning’s key national and global news headlines. They highlighted international efforts being made to preserve historical sites. This exercise beautifully blended current affairs with historical awareness, showing how our curriculum connects daily learning with real-world contexts.

The atmosphere in the hall quickly transformed into one of cultural pride as the students delivered a melodious, synchronised song dedicated to our rich global heritage. However, the true highlight of the morning was a powerful and engaging Nukkad Natak (street play) scripted and performed by the students.

With sharp wit and dramatic flair, the young actors spread awareness about a critical issue: why tourists must stop damaging historical monuments through vandalism and graffiti. By using theatre to tackle a real-world civic issue, the performance served as an excellent example of how GIIS fosters social responsibility and ethical values in its students.

The creative energy escalated as the Grade 5A students amazed everyone with a graceful dance performance celebrating India’s vibrant cultural diversity. In a spectacular display of teamwork, coordination, and physical agility, the students visually mirrored iconic global monuments on stage through creative human formations. It included the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and the Great Wall of China. This clever integration of art, history, and physical coordination kept the audience completely captivated.

The assembly concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by our Coordinator, Ms. Anila, who praised the students for their meticulous planning and execution. Events like these perfectly illustrate the GIIS philosophy of incorporating academic concepts into practical, impactful life lessons.

By blending art, drama, and leadership, our students didn't just learn about history; they became passionate advocates for its protection, leaving the entire campus inspired to respect and preserve the world’s shared heritage.
