Grandparents hold a special place in every child’s heart. Their wisdom guides generations, their stories shape young minds, and their love provides the warmth of home. To honour this invaluable bond, GIIS Ahmedabad celebrated Grandparents Day with great enthusiasm. The event was designed to appreciate the irreplaceable role of grandparents in nurturing family values and emotional strength among children.

The celebration witnessed the active participation of GMP to Grade 2 students, their grandparents, and teachers, who together created moments of laughter, learning, and love. The theme of the day was centred on togetherness and gratitude, as the school recognised grandparents as the guiding light in every child’s journey.

The event began with a warm welcome for the grandparents and their grandchildren at the Multipurpose Hall (MPH) of GIIS Ahmedabad. The air was filled with joy as teachers from GMP to Grade 2 presented a heartwarming skit, dance, performance, and poem dedicated to grandparents, leaving the audience touched and nostalgic.

To make the celebration more engaging, a range of interactive and fun-filled activities were organised – including one-minute games, reading with grandparents, musical antakshari, aerobics, cooking without fire (Healthy Bite), and Art Attack. Each activity was thoughtfully designed to encourage collaboration between grandparents and their grandchildren. Over 150 grandparents participated, bringing a lively spirit and heartfelt energy to the celebration.

The highlight of the day was watching grandparents and grandchildren share laughter, stories, and creativity, reinforcing the beautiful connection between generations. The event beautifully portrayed how learning goes beyond classrooms when emotional bonds are strengthened through shared experiences.
