“Give no excuses and always play like a champion” - Kelley O’Harra

In a thrilling display of skill, teamwork, and determination, GIIS Ahmedabad is extremely proud to present our U-19 Girls who became Handball District Champions at the tournament conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). The SGFI tournament saw fierce competition among several talented teams from various schools, but our GIIS Ahmedabad winning team gave an exceptional performance that stole the audience's hearts.

The journey to the championship was prepared under the guidance of their coach, Ms. Shabnam Mehsania. The team underwent rigorous training sessions focusing on physical conditioning and strategic gameplay. Our girls' dedication to their practice routines and unwavering team spirit were evident in every match they played. 

The final match was the major highlight of the tournament. Our team faced off against a strong and equally determined opponent. GIIS Ahmedabad U-19 girls proved to be unstoppable with their combination of powerful shots, strategic plays and solid defence to become the district champions.

U-19 girls team captain, Anshika Trivedi (grade 12 Commerce) is well-known for her leadership qualities which played a crucial role in guiding her teammates through tough moments. The agility and sharp reflexes of our goalkeeper, Tanisha Singh of grade 11th Humanities were instrumental in preventing the opposing teams from scoring.

The victory of our SGFI District Level Champions was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the players, their coach, and school management. The girls expressed their gratitude for the support they received from school management, families, and friends throughout the journey. 

Our champions are now looking forward to their SGFI state-level championship tournament, wherein they will strive to continue their winning streak and bring home more accolades. GIIS Ahmedabad’s U-19 handball team’s victory at the SGFI district-level competitions is a testament to their hard work, perseverance and teamwork. Their achievement has brought pride to the school and they serve as an inspiration to other young athletes aspiring to excel in their respective sports.
