GIIS Ahmedabad Students Shine at SGFI Tournaments with Remarkable Wins in Skating, Handball, Athletics, and Badminton

“Sports teach you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose – it teaches you about life.” – Major Dhyan Chand

True champions are not made overnight; they emerge through dedication, resilience, and the drive to excel. This spirit was proudly displayed by the students of GIIS Ahmedabad, who achieved remarkable success at the SGFI District and Taluka-level Tournaments 2025, excelling across skating, handball, athletics, and badminton.

At the SGFI District Roller Skating Tournament held at Eklavya Sports Academy, Thaltej, Siya Savjani from Grade 10C-MS claimed 1st position in both the 500+D (Inline) and 1000m (Inline) races in U-17, securing her spot at the state-level. Her double victory is a demonstration of her determination and the expert guidance of Coach Ajay Yadav.

GIIS Ahmedabad athletes also delivered outstanding performances at the SGFI Taluka Athletics Competition at Gujarat University. Tavashya Dixit (1500m, 800m), Varshitha Siriki (800m), Dev Patel (600m, Long Jump), Devansh Gupta (Long Jump), Dharmi Patel (Long Jump), Dharm Dave (80m Hurdles), and Savya Rawal (400m) all secured 1st positions, while Nitin Sai earned 2nd position in 3000m. Many of these athletes are now headed to the District-level championship.

In team sports, GIIS displayed unity and strength. At the SGFI District Handball Championship in Dholka, both the U-17 and U-19 Boys teams secured Second Runners-up, while the U-17 Girls team finished Second Runners-up and the U-19 Girls team stood as First Runners-up. Their success reflects teamwork and the guidance of Ms. Shabnam Mehsania.

Adding to the achievements, Nityom Kapadia clinched 2nd place in the SGFI District Badminton U-19 Boys category, earning a place in the Ahmedabad Rural District team for the State-level competition, under the mentorship of Coach Urvish Solanki.

Sharing her thoughts, Ms. Rajkunwarba Patel, ECA Coordinator, said, “These victories reflect not just the talent of our students but also their determination to push boundaries and rise above challenges. Each achievement is a reminder that when passion is nurtured with the right guidance, excellence naturally follows.”

Principal Mr. Caesar D’silva said, “At GIIS Ahmedabad, we strongly believe that sports build character, resilience, and leadership skills that last a lifetime. Our students' achievements at the SGFI tournaments are a source of immense pride, and I am confident they will continue to make a mark at the state and national levels.”

Through these achievements, GIIS Ahmedabad reaffirmed its commitment to holistic education, nurturing future champions both in academics and beyond.
