Global Indian International School (GIIS), Ahmedabad successfully conducted the Annual Sports Day event for more than 400 students of the senior segment showcasing their sportsmanship and athletic skills. The event was conducted for two shifts of students – the morning shift catering to the students of grades 9 to 12, and the afternoon shift for grade 9 students. 

The students participated in the Annual Sports Day with excitement and enthusiasm in various events. The day kicked off with a 100m dash race, followed by 50m X 4 relay wherein a team of four students competed against each other in a thrilling display of time and skill. Other exciting sports include dribble run, long jump, high jump, ball throw, and shot-put. GIIS Ahmedabad students displayed exceptional skills and techniques in all the events conducted.

GIIS Ahmedabad's 10th Annual Sports Day was not only about competition but also about inculcating the values of sportsmanship and teamwork among students. The participants cheered for each other and encouraged their competitors to do their best.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Amit Chaudhary, District Sports Officer (DSO), Ahmedabad Rural, who was invited as a chief guest. The sports day began with an opening ceremony where the school’s principal, Mr. Caesar D’silva welcomed the chief guest and all the participants. In his address speech, Dr. Amit Chaudhary said, “It is extremely important for all of us to promote sports among students. I would like to take all the teachers to those nostalgic moments when we used to play different sports not just for physical well-being but actually for fun. It is a medium to revive life and can work as a stress buster.” 

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony wherein the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. The students were beaming with pride and honour as they received the awards while their teachers and mentors cheered for them. Mr. Caesar D’silva, Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad expressed his delight in the successful completion of the 10th GIIS Ahmedabad Annual Sports Day. He expressed his gratitude to all the participants and chief guests for making it a success.

The sports day at GIIS Ahmedabad is a true reflection of the school’s commitment towards promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students. It provided a platform for the students to showcase their sporting talent and learn important values like teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
