In line with the Indian government showcasing a precursor to the grand celebrations on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, GIIS Ahmedabad began the mega event in September 2019 that culminated with the students' Dandi March. A ½ km March was organized to pay tribute to the father of the nation. More than 60 students participated in the Dandi March and chanted slogans calling out for Swachh Bharat and to recall the ideology, teachings and the unparalleled contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, fondly called as Bapu.

Another unique highlight of the celebration was the idea of 'Joy of giving week' where GIIS aimed at imbibing a habit of sharing amongst its students. With the essence of 'Festival of Giving', GIIS planned a contribution drive for needy and under-privileged people.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Caesar D'silva, Principal GIIS Ahmedabad said, "We at GIIS Ahmedabad staged illustrative activities at school level across all grades to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Our NINE Gems framework strongly emphasizes on the importance of having strong values and ethics to develop a well-rounded individual. Our students’ enthusiastic participation in these activities is extremely gratifying and a recognition of our effort towards teaching the values of Mahatma."

GIIS Ahmedabad’s MGCUV is a replica of Sabarmati Ashram, which reflects that Gandhian values are deeply engraved and are relevant in the lives of the current generation. An overwhelming number of participation was observed in other activities that were part of the ten days long celebrations including Poster Making, Portrait and Poem Writing, Collage Making, Calligraphy, Role Play, Speak-Up Activity, Letter to Bapu to name a few.
