At GIIS Ahmedabad, our morning assemblies aren’t just routine gatherings of students for traditional rituals. They serve as meaningful platforms where mindfulness, student leadership, and cultural values converge to ignite young minds. Our Grade 3 morning shift students capitalised on this opportunity by presenting a special assembly to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Through a thoughtful blend of physical wellness, historical narrative, and creative performances, these young learners transformed a historical milestone into a deeply moving educational experience for the entire campus.
The assembly commenced with a structured consciousness routine designed to align physical readiness with mental focus. Guided by teachers, students participated in targeted breathing exercises, brief meditation, sitting posture corrections, and brain motor activities. This intentional start ensured that every learner was fully present, demonstrating how physical wellness directly enhances cognitive readiness before transitioning into daily morning rituals, including prayers, an uplifting thought of the day, and national and international news updates.
Building upon this focused foundation, the atmosphere quickly erupted with patriotic pride. Students delivered a soul-stirring choral rendition followed by a high-energy dance performance featuring impressive athletic moves. The stage then shifted to an insightful historical presentation explaining why Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed annually on 26th July.
The young presenters narrated the bravery of Operation Vijay, launched in May 1999, which successfully concluded after 85 arduous days of brave defence along the Line of Control. Beyond detailing historical timelines, the students paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice. They also saluted the frontline soldiers and acknowledged the unsung heroes whose silent contributions secured national victory.
Education achieves its highest purpose when historical lessons transcend textbooks to build moral character.
Addressing the audience, Principal Mr Caesar D'Silva shared inspiring thoughts on the true essence of sacrifice, courage, and civic responsibility. He warmly commended the Grade 3A performers for using music, drama, and expressive dance to convey complex historical lessons to their peers.
Morning Shift Vice Principal Ms Ruchika Dhingra echoed these sentiments, praising the students for their meticulous execution and mature artistic presentation. She emphasised that seeing young children express such deep gratitude toward national guardians reflects the core ethos of holistic education.
By stepping into the spotlight to honour India’s brave defenders, Grade 3A demonstrated that patriotism is not merely an abstract concept taught in social studies, but a lived value nurtured through expression and reflection. At GIIS Ahmedabad, we continue to integrate character building with experiential learning. Events like these remind us that tomorrow’s conscious global leaders are formed when young hearts learn to respect, remember, and celebrate the foundations of their nation.
