GIIS Ahmedabad Grade 2E MS Hosts Independence Day and World Lion Day Assembly

Education finds its richest expression when young minds connect historic values with contemporary global responsibilities. ~ Principal Mr. Caesar D’Silva.

Our Grade 2E Morning Shift students recently transformed their class assembly to celebrate two significant observances: India's 80th Independence Day and World Lion Day. Through historic portrayals, dramatic skits, and passionate speeches, these young learners demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge, character, and stage confidence.

The morning began with serene assembly rituals, including a peaceful school prayer and news updates. The stage echoed with national pride as the students embarked on a theatrical retrospective of India's freedom movement.

Dressed in authentic attire, individual performers brought legendary leaders to life. One student portrayed Mahatma Gandhi, eloquently guiding the audience through his pivotal milestones, including the principles of Satyagraha, the historic Salt March, and strategic fasts.

Another group depicted Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his brave associates, recalling the solemn events of 23rd March 1931 that marked their martyrdom. Adding further splendour to the tribute, a young girl embodied the fierce bravery of Jhansi ki Rani, while her classmate depicted the visionary leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Seamlessly transitioning from historical heritage to environmental stewardship, the assembly then turned its focus to World Lion Day. Adorned in bright yellow outfits and lion masks, the students performed an emotional skit highlighting the urgent need for wildlife conservation.

Through expressive acting and dialogue, the children delivered a poignant appeal to stop harmful shooting practices in forests and barren lands that threaten the survival of lions and wild animals. This underscored the gentle responsibility humans carry in preserving natural ecosystems and protecting endangered species.

The maturity and fluency of the Grade 2E MS students left a lasting impression on the school leadership. Principal Mr. Caesar D'Silva and Vice-Principal Ms. Ruchika Dhingra expressed immense admiration for how thoughtfully the young students articulated complex historical narratives and environmental issues. They praised the class for educating their peers through art and theatre, noting how effectively the performance aligned with the school's holistic 9GEMs learning framework.

The assembly concluded with warm appreciation from faculty and classmates alike. By blending national history with ecological awareness, the young stars of Grade 2E MS proved that compassionate leadership, civic responsibility, and moral consciousness begin at an early age.
