In every school, a vibrant class assembly serves as the heart of institutional culture, where young minds gather to learn, reflect, and grow together. At Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad, our assemblies are designed not merely as routine gatherings, but as powerful platforms for character building and experiential learning.
Following in the same vein, our Grade 1B MS recently hosted a captivating class assembly centred on the empowering theme, "Be Your Own Hero – Self-Care Day."
The morning commenced with the traditional solemnity that defines GIIS assemblies. Beginning with a peaceful morning prayer, students reaffirmed their values through the school pledge, followed by an insightful news reading and an uplifting Thought for the Day that set a meaningful tone for the morning.
Transitioning to the core thematic presentation, the young learners of Grade 1B introduced their theme with remarkable confidence. The highlight of the assembly was a creative skit featuring student performers who embodied five essential guardians of well-being: the Mind, Body, Brain, Friendship, and Gratitude heroes.
Through lively dialogue and expressive storytelling, the young actors demonstrated that taking care of oneself requires nourishing every dimension of human life, from mental clarity and physical fitness to emotional connection and appreciation for others.
The skit transitioned into dynamic dance performances that showcased physical, emotional, and mental health through rhythmic movement and joy. The energetic routine reminded the audience that daily self-care is an active, joyful commitment to one's own growth.
At GIIS Ahmedabad, we believe teaching self-care to children at such a formative stage in today's fast-paced world is a vital act of educational leadership. Our assemblies equip children with the self-awareness required to navigate life's challenges. When six-year-olds learn that practising gratitude and nurturing friendships are forms of heroics, they build a strong foundation of resilience that will serve them for a lifetime.
The assembly concluded on an inspiring note with appreciative guidance from the school leadership team. Our Principal Mr. Caesar D’Silva and Vice-Principal Ms. Ruchika Dhingra, acknowledged students' and their class mentors' efforts. They commended them for choosing such thoughtful and valuable lessons through this assembly to become well-rounded individuals.
Following a heartfelt vote of thanks, the gathering stood together in unity for the pledge. By encouraging students from a tender age to become their own heroes through simple, healthy daily habits, GIIS Ahmedabad continues to reinforce its commitment to nurturing balanced, self-aware global citizens under the GIIS 9GEMs framework.
