“Chess is a war over the board. The object is to crush the opponent’s mind.” - Viswanathan Anand
Exemplifying intelligence, focus, and strategy, the students of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Ahmedabad, showcased an extraordinary performance at the Inter-School Chess Championship held at Nexus Ahmedabad One Mall. Competing against top young minds from various schools across the city, the GIIS chess players impressed everyone with their skill, composure, and deep understanding of the game.
Inspired by the legendary Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand’s words, the GIIS students proved that chess is not just a game of moves; it is a discipline of thought, patience, and mental agility. Their achievements are a reflection of the school’s emphasis on developing critical and analytical thinking through its holistic approach.
Among the outstanding achievers, Zian Karandikar emerged as the Champion of Group B, followed by Om Jha, securing the 2nd Rank, and Rushil Gandhi achieving the 3rd Rank in the same category. Onish Savjani earned the 7th Rank in Group C, while in the Open Group, Ansh Maheshwari and Aarav Kumar secured the 3rd and 7th Ranks, respectively.
A special appreciation goes to Coach Ashok Solanki, whose unwavering mentorship and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the students' strategic mindset and competitive spirit. His dedication has played a vital role in the team’s consistent success and confidence.
Principal, Mr. Caesar D’silva, shared his excitement about this achievement, saying, “Our students have once again demonstrated that strategic thinking, discipline, and focus lead to success. Their achievements reflect the strength of our holistic approach to education and the commitment of our mentors.”
With every triumph, GIIS Ahmedabad continues to nurture young minds to think critically, act decisively, and excel beyond boundaries. The success of these chess champions stands as a proud reminder of the school’s vision to create future leaders who combine intellect, determination, and grace in every move they make.
