The landscape of higher education and global careers is shifting at a breathtaking pace. Today, success is no longer defined by sticking to a single, rigid academic lane. Today, the brightest future belongs to young minds who can connect the dots between multiple disciplines, such as technology, design, history, and economics.
Our Career Counselling and University Guidance (CCUG) Team organised an insightful orientation session titled "Liberal Arts & Holistic University Admissions" in collaboration with Ashoka University. The session brought together 55 students from Grade 11th and 12th, providing them with a head start and future-mapping.
Led by Ms. Jinal Shah from Ashoka University, the session focused on a powerful shift in higher education: the "whole-student" approach. Our students learned that top-tier colleges look far beyond just percentages and test scores. They want to see a student’s true character, leadership skills, and community involvement.
True education isn't about boxing a child into a traditional stream because of societal pressure. It’s about giving them the agility to adapt. By introducing our seniors to the flexibility of modern majors and minors, we are teaching them to build a portfolio of skills, not just a collection of degrees.
The interactive session also gave our students clear, practical insights into application timelines, student safety, and how university scholarships work.
What turned this career orientation into a beautiful milestone for the GIIS family was a very special homecoming. For the first time, the campus proudly welcomed back one of its own: Ms. Kshitija (Batch of 2019), a graduate of both GIIS Ahmedabad and Ashoka University.
This heart-to-heart interaction was a passion project for our Principal, Mr. Caesar D'Silva. He strongly believes that real inspiration shouldn't just come from textbooks, but from living success stories born right in our own classrooms.
Ms. Kshitija sat down with her juniors and shared an incredibly honest, inspiring look at her journey. She talked about the real-world transition from school to campus life, how she managed her extracurriculars, and how she found her unique voice.
By facilitating this connection, the school bridged the gap between school life and university realities.
By introducing students to interdisciplinary paths early on, GIIS Ahmedabad continues to move away from traditional, rote-learning mindsets. The session left our young leaders feeling motivated, self-aware, and exceptionally confident about navigating their upcoming university transitions.
We are not just teaching our children to pass tests; we are giving them the clarity and confidence to shape the future. The foundation we build at GIIS genuinely leads to incredible global destinations
