The kindergarteners and students of Grade 1 and 2 of Global Indian International School Balewadi celebrated Earth Day as part of the I-Care activity on 22nd April 2022.

The Earth Day celebration is part of the school’s robust Green Initiative Programme and I-care activities which among other things focuses on climate change, global warming and encouraging sustainability. It is also a step in the right direction for a school which is a signatory to the UN Sustainable Development Goals since last year.

In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 as 'International Mother Earth Day'. According to the UN, International Mother Earth Day is celebrated as a reminder that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and sustenance. “The healthier our ecosystems are, the healthier the planet – and its people.

The students of Nursery, KG1 and KG2 came to know about the importance of celebrating Earth Day every year and the steps which can be taken to save our planet earth and make our future better.

 The students then took part in the activity of drawing Happy Earth. The little ones were an excited lot as they drew the image of the earth and later posed for pictures.

Meanwhile, students of Grade 1-2 took part in the poster making and slogan writing activity. Earlier the teachers explained to them the importance of Earth Day and why we celebrate the same.

 The teachers explained to students the three ‘R’s of Waste Management and told the students that if we work together as a team and put in all our efforts we can surely make our planet a better place.

Students enjoyed the activity of drawing posters, the learning outcome for which were simple steps to be taken to protect our planet.

The Earth Day celebration proved to be the perfect platform for students of all grades, as they learnt and felt closer to the bigger cause.
