Global Indian International School (GIIS), Bannerghatta, in collaboration with Bangalore Chess Academy, under the aegis of Karnataka State Chess Association (KSCA) and Bengaluru Urban District Chess Association (BUDCA), proudly hosted a spectacular Chess Tournament on 30th August.
The event turned into a true celebration of strategy, intelligence, and sportsmanship as 174 young chess enthusiasts participated with great energy and excitement. Players competed across four categories — Under-7, Under-10, Under-13, and Under-17 — showcasing their sharp thinking and competitive spirit on the chessboard.
The atmosphere was filled with focus and determination as every move on the board reflected patience, discipline, and critical thinking. Each step forward was not just about moving a piece, but about carefully calculating possibilities, anticipating the opponent’s response, and executing the right strategy at the right time. The young players displayed an impressive balance of logic and creativity, proving that chess is a game where every single move counts.
Every participant was appreciated for their efforts and received a certificate of participation as a token of encouragement. The winners and runners-up were honoured with trophies and achievement certificates, recognising their remarkable performances and dedication to the game.
To ensure equal recognition, each category featured five trophies — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions — for both boys and girls, giving young talents across age groups the chance to shine.
This wonderful tournament would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Bangalore Chess Academy, KSCA, and BUDCA. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the young participants, parents, mentors, and supporters who made the event such a grand success.
At GIIS Bannerghatta, we believe in nurturing students beyond academics. Tournaments like this create platforms where children not only showcase their skills but also build qualities like focus, confidence, and perseverance — all of which are essential for holistic development.
