GIIS Tokyo celebrates Hinamatsuri

The students and staff of GIIS Tokyo SSD Campus celebrated the Hinamatsuri festival by creating colourful and interesting paper origami dolls.

Hinamatsuri is an annual festival held on March 3, it is an auspicious time when families pray for their daughter’s health, longevity and prosperity.

Various Cultures around the world celebrate and seek protection for their children in many ways.

Traditionally, Hinamatsuri is observed by constructing simple dolls made from straw or folded paper, placing them on boats and releasing them on a nearby river. This ceremony, known as Hina Nagashi, was said to carry away any bad luck or misfortune away, thereby keeping girls safe and happy.

One of the most important aspects of celebrating Hina Matsuri/Girls’ Day is wishing every girl a happy and prosperous future.
