There is an obvious need of preserving our heritage. So, to educate students on the same, World Heritage Day was celebrated at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida with great emotions and purpose.

The special assembly conducted in the school’s multipurpose hall was a perfect way to introduce the kids with the rich cultural heritage of India. Gayatri Mantra recital followed by guided meditational exercises like anulom-vilom, Om chanting, etc. marked the commencement of an eventful assembly ahead. Poems, speech and a detailed presentation on the main elements (monuments, dances, religions, festivals, heritage sites, etc.) that make any country’s cultural heritage unique, were pondered upon.

An interactive quiz based on heritage facts and figures was also organized for the students sitting in audience. The quiz was sportingly played and every student eagerly wanted to participate in answering the question. A heart-warming video on “Save India Monuments” was played in the assembly, visually explaining how these monuments depict a true picture of our culture and existence. One of the students from grade 8 even demonstrated basic Bharatanatyam mudras like hasth patakha and namaskar among others.

Towards the conclusion of the special assembly, everyone took an oath of spreading the word of preserving our country’s heritage and cultural sites in their own little way, so that youth of today can know its value and importance.

Speaking to students, Principal of GIIS Noida laid emphasis on being aware about heritage. He encouraged students to visit monuments and heritage sites during vacations and share the information collected with their friends and teachers in school. He also quoted – “what’s more important is to implement the oath we all have taken today, and work towards protecting of our heritage that makes us unique in the world.”
