From 21 to 23 September 2026, a team of eleven GIIS Tokyo students travelled to GIIS Singapore for Global Excellence Day (GED) 2026 and the 3rd Mock COP. The events were organised by the Global Centre for Education Excellence (GCEE), Singapore. Our students came home with an impressive set of awards.
A Global Stage for Student Leaders
This year, GED returned as a fully in-person event. More than 148 students from 18 campuses across five countries, all schools within the Global Schools Group, came together for three days of collaboration, competition and learning. Thirty-nine Quality Circle teams took part.
GIIS Tokyo was represented by 11 students: three from the Nishi Kasai Campus and eight from the Higashi Kasai Campus. Our senior students also took part in the Mock COP conference.
Quality Circle Competition
Student Quality Circles are built on the philosophy of total quality management and continuous improvement. Students identify a real problem, then work together to analyse it and develop a solution.
Primary Team: Senna Akashi, Zhao Yanzhe and Choi Ban presented for GIIS Tokyo in the primary category.
Middle Team: Ai Hanada, Nina Terashima and Ranka Sugihara won the Gold Winner Team Award.
Senior Team: Laasya Deshpande, Soha Sakhare, Reva Pushpahas, Deeksha Hemananda and Kawamoto Rimi earned a Special Mention Award, with Reva Pushpahas recognised individually.
Mock COP: Students Take on the Climate Summit
The GSG Mock COP is a simulation of the annual Global Climate Summit. It gives senior students a platform to debate critical climate issues and reach collective decisions. Eight GIIS Tokyo students took part: Laasya Deshpande, Reva Pushpahas, Deeksha Hemananda, Soha Sakhare, Kawamoto Rimi, Ai Hanada, Nina Terashima and Ranka Sugihara.
- Best Negotiator Award: Soha Sakhare
- Mock Action Plan Impact Award (2025 Mock COP continuity recognition, pre-judged), Gold Team Award: Akshat Anoop Babu, Laasya Deshpande and Reva Pushpahas
Eco Showdown
Alongside the conference, Eco Showdown offered pre-judged competitions in essays, paintings and photography. Lilia Kimura, Zen Kimura, Awais Ali Syed and Reyansh Keni represented GIIS Tokyo, and Lilia Kimura won the Best Photography award.
Proud of Our Students
Congratulations to every student who took part. They showed teamwork, confident communication and real care for the world around them. Our thanks also go to the teachers and staff who supported them, and to GCEE and GIIS Singapore for hosting an excellent event.
Warm Regards
