Smiling children and proud parents rejoiced at achievements at the Global School Awards (GSA) 2018 where deserving students were awarded for their spectacular performance in various academic and sports fields in April.
The function, held at Queenstown Campus in Singapore, was a joint coordination between Queenstown, East Coast and Balestier campuses, where students from all three primary and secondary campuses were acknowledged for their excellence throughout the year.
The award ceremony was divided into two parts: Primary awards for Class 4-6 in the morning and Secondary awards for Class 7-9 in the afternoon. More than 500 students were recipients in various categories for awards that included:
* Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Academic Proficiency
* Mr Chandrakant Borde Award for Sports Excellence
* Dr Justice C S Dharmadhikari Award for Co-curricular Excellence
* GSF President’s Award for All Round Excellence
* MGK Menon Award for Academic Proficiency
* Ambassador Dr. Abid Hussain Award for Academic Proficiency
and lastly * Subject Proficiency Award
In this welcome address, GIIS chairman Mr Atul Temurnikar congratulated the winners and thanked them for making this day happen for their children. The occasion was graced by Guest of Honour, Mr Rajesh Chandramohandas, Assistant Professor & Chair of Graduate Program at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Mr Kaustabh Bodhankar, Deputy COO, Mr. Pramod Tripathi, Associate Director of Academics, Principals Madhu Khanna and Melissa Maria. All of them handed out several awards to deserving students.
Students from Balestier, Queenstown and East Coast Campus also showcased their talent in various dance performances. Parents and teachers alike, were seen supporting and celebrating this day together with the students.
At the end of the event, parents posed with their children for photos at the GIIS photobooth and took home pictures as souveniers of the event.
