Global Indian International School (GIIS) in Singapore received the prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award (AREA) 2016, under the ‘Investment in People’ category, at a gala event held on Friday, 24 June 2016 at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

Mr Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-founder, Global Schools Foundation received the award from Professor Datuk Seri Dr Victor Vee, Former Chairman of Tourism Malaysia and Advisor to Enterprise Asia, and Dato' William Ng, President of Enterprise Asia. Mr Temurnikar was accompanied by Mr B. G Shenoy, Director – Global Centre for Education Excellence, Ms Madhu Khanna, Principal, GIIS Queenstown Campus, Mr C V K Sastry, Vice-Principal, GIIS East Coast Campus, Ms Savinder Rooprai, Vice-Principal, GIIS Balestier Campus, and members of the management team at GIIS.

Established in 2002, GIIS adopted the cultural ideology of ‘Schools That Learn’ – making each individual at GIIS an equal partner in the process of learning, leading to innovative initiatives in diverse fields towards the common goal to nurture well-balanced global citizens.

In order to achieve its mission, the school promotes continuous learning apart from providing dedicated training facilities and resources for its employees.

“Winning this award is not just a recognition of our efforts but also a challenge for us to further this advocacy in continuing our belief in recognising talents and help them grow in the organisation as well,” said Mr Atul Temurnikar.

Mr B G Shenoy expressed, “This is the 59th award achieved by GIIS, and receiving this recognition from Enterprise Asia makes it more special. The honour holds significance to our efforts in people development through various initiatives.”

The award demonstrates companies’ leadership, sincerity and on-going commitment in providing apt training and environment for the each individuals to grow in the organisation. From over hundreds of submissions across 28 Asian countries, few projects were chosen winners for the six categories namely; Green Leadership Award; Investment in People Award; Social Empowerment Award; SME CSR Award; Responsible Business Leader Award; and Health Promotion Award.
