Wildlife Week 2026: Sonali Raj Brings Home Third Prize in Forest Department Drawing Competition !!

Sonali Raj of Grade 11 at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Bannerghatta, has secured third place in the Drawing Competition conducted by the Forest Department as part of Wildlife Week 2026. This achievement adds to the school’s growing list of accomplishments in creative and environmental education.

To honour the winners, an award ceremony was held at AMC College, where Forest Minister Shri Ramalinga Reddy presented the award to Sonali. She received it in the presence of fellow participants, teachers, and officials from the department. The occasion brought together students from several institutions, all of whom had used art to express their views on nature and wildlife.

Observed annually in the first week of October, Wildlife Week aims to raise community awareness of the preservation of animals, forests, and natural habitats. This initiative echoes the ethos of GIIS Bannerghatta, where learning extends beyond academics to nurture mindful, socially conscious global citizens. A nature-themed art contest aligns seamlessly with this vision, and Sonali’s third-place finish showcases her artistic ability alongside a deep reverence for the natural world.

Her success particularly reflects Gem 3 of the 9GEMS framework, Visual and Performing Arts, which encourages students to develop their creative talents alongside academics, sports, and values. At GIIS Bannerghatta, students are supported in taking their interests beyond the campus and testing them on external platforms, and Sonali’s achievement shows what such encouragement can lead to.

Behind this recognition lies steady commitment. Balancing the demands of Grade 11 with preparation for an external competition is not easy, and her dedication to both deserves appreciation. Her achievement also shows other students that talent developed through regular practice can earn recognition well beyond the school campus.

On behalf of the entire school community, we extend our warmest congratulations to Sonali for representing GIIS Bannerghatta with distinction. Her success is a reminder that conservation is not only a subject for science lessons; it is also a cause that can inspire art, and young artists have an important role in carrying that message to the wider community.

We wish Sonali continued success in all her future creative endeavours.
