Every great invention, business and solution begins with a simple idea and someone brave enough to share it. At GIIS Bannerghatta, this thought came alive when students from Grades 6 to 12 took part in the much-awaited Shark Tank competition. Designed as a platform for young innovators to pitch their ideas, the event encouraged students to think like entrepreneurs and turn their thoughts into workable solutions.
The campus was filled with creativity, confidence and entrepreneurial thinking as students presented a wide range of original ideas, innovative products and solutions to real-world challenges. Each team began by identifying a problem around them, then worked on a unique solution and finally presented it with conviction. Along the way, students had to plan carefully, divide responsibilities and explain their ideas in a clear and convincing manner.
Standing in front of an audience and pitching an idea is not easy, especially when every word counts. Even so, the students spoke about their concepts with impressive confidence and answered questions with ease. Their pitches reflected strong critical thinking, teamwork and communication, along with the early signs of an entrepreneurial mindset.
The event also gave students a chance to look beyond the classroom. They were encouraged to take risks, explore new possibilities and believe in the power of their own ideas. For many, it was an opportunity to see how what they learn in school can be used to solve everyday problems and make a difference to the people around them.
This way of learning reflects GEM 6 (Innovation and Creativity) of the GIIS 9 GEMS framework. This GEM encourages students to think beyond conventional boundaries and to use their learning to understand and respond to real-world situations. At Shark Tank, students did exactly that, moving from an idea to a pitch while building problem-solving skills, resilience and self-belief.
More than a competition, Shark Tank became a day of fresh thinking, bold presentations and shared learning. The originality, enthusiasm and confidence shown by the participants stood out, and the whole campus was inspired by what young minds can achieve.
Big ideas, bold pitches and young entrepreneurs showed that when students are given the space to think and the courage to speak, the possibilities are limitless.
