GIIS Nursery Wing Takes the Stage with a Farm-Themed Assembly

The Nursery wing of GIIS Bannerghatta presented a delightful assembly based on the theme of farm life, filling the school auditorium with colour, warmth, and childlike joy. The little students, all dressed as farm characters such as a farmer, mouse, cat, sheep, hen, and cow, stood together hand in hand as the assembly began, each child adding their own charm to the theme.

The assembly was led by a young anchor Aayansh Roy from nursery who spoke with confidence far beyond his age, guiding the audience through a simple and heartfelt sequence that included a prayer, a thought of the day, and a fun rhyme. Midway through the programme, a short quiz was held to keep the children engaged with the farm theme, and they answered every question correctly, smiling brightly as they showed how much they had learnt. Their costumes, expressions, and enthusiasm made the whole assembly lively and enjoyable to watch.

Beyond the fun and the applause, an assembly like this does a lot for little children. For many of them, it was the first time they spoke in front of a big audience. Performing together with their classmates taught them to cooperate, and being on stage gave their confidence an early boost. It also made learning enjoyable, because children understand and remember new ideas much better through play, costumes and performance than through books alone.

The assembly beautifully reflects GEM 4 (Visual and Performing Arts), one of the GIIS 9 GEMS framework, which nurtures a child's creative and expressive abilities through art, music, dance, and drama. Through this farm-themed performance, the children expressed themselves confidently through costumes, expressions, dialogue, and stage presence — bringing their characters to life in front of an audience.

Through this activity, the children learnt about various farm animals, their sounds, movements, and habitats, while also developing essential skills such as public speaking, teamwork, memory retention, and stage confidence. It gave them a joyful, hands-on way to connect classroom learning with real-world expression, helping them grow not just academically but socially and emotionally as well.

Overall, the Nursery wing's farm-themed assembly was a small but meaningful step in helping young learners grow — combining fun, learning, and confidence-building in one joyful morning.
