How GIIS Ahmedabad organized Safety Week 2022?

Though the day is commemorated by the NSC, the GIIS Ahmedabad also made an attempt to create awareness by sensitizing the students about the importance of safety on roads and on the school premises.

Safety ambassadors from K1, K2, and Nursery were nominated from each class. They visited all the classes to spread awareness regarding safety and provided various tips to their classmates,  like not running in the corridors, walking properly, and not talking to strangers. The students of Grades 1 and 2 prepared their own 5 safety rules on the Safety Hand Templates provided to them.

The students of Class 3 to 5 gathered in the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) to understand the importance of safety week and how it can make the world a safer place. Sonia Jacob, the anchor of the program elaborated on the significance of first aid tools, bandages and safety measures to be considered at different places by the children. Tanishka Mehta, a student in Grade 5 took the initiative to spread awareness about the safety on road and following traffic rules through a vivacious dance performance. Ms. Kavita Borse and the students of her class also performed a self-choreographed dance for conveying the message of safety outside the home.

Shihan Purva Nayak, a well-known 5th Degree Black Belt Martial Arts Trainer, and Mr. Poojan Shah, a Karate expert, were invited to sensitize the students of Class 6 to 8 about the strategies to deal with unexpected situations. They demonstrated some techniques of self-defense to the students and staff to protect themselves in uncertain circumstances. This was followed by a presentation on cyber security by the IT teachers, which enlightened the students about the pros and cons of the digital world.

The students of the Afternoon Shift, also performed a mime act to acquaint the audience with the daily rules to be followed in the school and while driving. A special session on ‘Safe and Healthy Friendship’ was conducted for the students of Grades 9 and 10, jointly by the School Counselor and Special Educator.

The Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad, Mr. Caesar D’silva talked about the safety norms to be followed at school. He said on the occasion, “The safety of the children is our first priority at GIIS Ahmedabad. Safety education can help children become aware of the possible hazards in their lives. We have encouraged the students to also convey the safety week messages to their parents and guardians.”
