More than 300 participants across 15 schools in the city participated in the second edition of GIIS IDEATE 2023 - a unique competition showcasing students' innovation and creativity. The competition-themed ‘building an era of innovation’ was also meant to celebrate the 10th anniversary of GIIS Ahmedabad under the aegis of the Global Schools Foundation (GSF).

GIIS IDEATE - ‘Innovation, Design, Expressions, Art & Culture, Technology and Engineering’ had students from all groups compete to win in the top 21 events that included music, technology, fashion, history, writing etc.

Students from kindergarten to Grade 12 participated in various competitions like Scienceporium (KG), Jingle It (LP), Wrecky Techie (UP & MS), Soulful Shakers (UP & MS), GIIS Idol (MS), Appelevate (SEC & SNR), Design for Tomorrow (SNR) among others. The kindergarteners competing in the Scienceporium competition had to demonstrate and explain the concept of experiments on Environmental Science/Earth Science. 

The lower primary students who participated in ‘Doodle Art’ had to create a project based on the theme ‘World 2050.’ The secondary event on ‘Design for Tomorrow’ had students design their dresses and accessories inspired by the artwork of Indian artists - MF Hussain, and Raja Ravi Varma, among others. Middle school students had to write a rap on a special cause ‘Women Empowerment or Right to Education’. 

This year, a handful of new competitions such as Warli Art, GIIS Idol, Turncoat, Thoughtshot, Quality Circle and Feel with Reel were introduced to raise the bar of competition, creativity and innovation. 

Mr. Mahesh Mehta, Secretary of State Project Office, Education, Gandhinagar was invited as a chief guest, praised the initiative by GIIS Ahmedabad and said, “It was a commendable effort to uplift creativity and innovative skills among the students. He emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing young minds and preparing them for challenges.”

Ms. Cherry Patel from SGVP International School, Ahmedabad shared, “Words are not sufficient to share my experience here at GIIS Ahmedabad. The entire school is well-disciplined and full of enthusiastic people. Our students look forward to joining  the third edition of GIIS IDEATE.”

Nachiket Bhatnagar from GIIS Ahmedabad shared, “GIIS IDEATE was an unforgettable learning experience for me. Participation in 21 different events in various categories, and the enthusiastic students performing zealously made it a huge success.”

Neil Choudhary, a participant in the Quality Circle competition shared, “GIIS Ahmedabad’s hospitality was at its best and one must learn from it. The faculty and organizing team filled me with motivation to perform my best. I would like to participate in the competition next year also.”

GIIS IDEATE 2.0 was tremendously successful showcasing the immense talent and skills of the students at GIIS Ahmedabad. It is not only a competition but also a reminder to understand the value of holistic education for nurturing students’ innovative skills.
