GIIS Ahmedabad sports enthusiasts brought laurels in SGFI tournaments

The students of Global Indian International School - GIIS Ahmedabad believe in this quote and have also proved that one can achieve success by working hard and diligently. GIIS Ahmedabad is thrilled to share that our students have performed outstandingly well in the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) tournaments.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has recognised the SGFI tournament. SGFI conducts various sports competitions with the aim of promoting sports activities among school students and identifying talented athletes who can represent India at an international level.

SGFI Football Tournament

GIIS Ahmedabad is proud to present the undefeated U-14 boys' football team that bagged the title of champions in the SGFI District Football Tournament. Under the captaincy of Jayshil Sompura, they won the final match against Udgam School with a score of 1-0. From the U-14 players, 4 young members - Jayshil Sompura, Mac Baldha, Darsh Devani and Shresth Sharma have been selected to represent Ahmedabad city at this esteemed state-level championship.

 

SGFI Chess Tournament

Our young chess enthusiasts have once again proved their excellence by achieving remarkable success at the SGFI U-14 Chess tournament. We extend our warmest congratulations to U-14 boys – Aarav Kumar, Aatman Raval, Ayaan Chettiar and U-14 girls – Aditri Shome, Margi Chudasama for their performance which earned them a well-deserved spot at the state-level competition.

 

SGFI Handball Tournament

GIIS Ahmedabad U-14 and U-17 Handball teams have made us proud by bagging multiple positions at the SGFI Handball Tournament. Their unwavering dedication and exceptional skills serve as a shining testament to this glorious victory. We would like to congratulate our boys and girls for their selection in the state-level tournament.

SGFI Basketball Tournament

GIIS Ahmedabad participated in the district-level tournament for Basketball wherein our U-17 Girls' team played supremely well and won the runners-up position. Among the U-17 girls’ team, the performances of Sneha Chaudhary, Naavya Agarwal, and Ananya Sharma were well-appreciated and were shortlisted for the state-level tournament.

SGFI Karate Tournament

From white belts to champions – our GIIS Ahmedabad students are true examples of inspiration as each one of them gained a resounding victory in the SGFI Karate Tournament. Khushi Raval and Dhanishtha Prajapati bagged 1st and 2nd positions in the U-14 category. Aanand Trilok Joshi and Jihan Bhagat secured 3rd position in the U-14 and U-17 boys’ categories, respectively.

SGFI Swimming Tournament

The outstanding aquatic prowess and unwavering commitment to excellence of our young swimming champions – Ritesh Yadav and Kartikeya Patel have clinched gold medals in the prestigious SGFI district-level swimming tournament. Ritesh Yadav won gold medals in 100m and 200m freestyle competitions, while Kartikeya Patel bagged gold medals in 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle competitions. 

 SGFI Athletics Tournament

GIIS Ahmedabad students showcased their exceptional athletic skills in the SGFI Athletic Tournament at the Taluka level which brought laurels to the school. Aditya Raj (U-14 boys) bagged 3rd position in 600m, and Akshita Shankar and Vanishka Ahlawat (U-14 girls) secured 3rd positions in 200m and 100m races respectively. U-17 boys – Bhavya Mathur and Atharv Kelkar secured 1st position in 200m and 100m races while Abhijeet Satpathy bagged 3rd position in the 1500m race.

Mr. Caesar D’silva, Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad, being extremely proud of the young sports enthusiasts said, “Our GIIS Ahmedabad champs showed that with the right stride, every hurdle becomes a stepping stone to success. We are extremely proud of all these GEMS of GIIS Ahmedabad. It is really commendable that these champions have achieved these milestones at such a young age. These medals are a result of their hard work, dedication, perseverance, and patience. Kudos to the sports teachers and parents for their constant guidance and support.”
