The Global Indian International School (GIIS), Smart Campus Hadapsar organised ‘Parents Orientation programme for the academic year 2021-22, which was conducted virtually on 28th March 2021, for the new set of parents to familiarize them, “as partners in progress” with the curriculum, rules, and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities.

The orientation session was planned in two slots and parents were informed about the same on a prior basis. The Pre-Primary orientation was at 11 a.m. and the Primary & Secondary Section (Grade 1 to 9) was scheduled at 12:30 p.m. The Orientation was conducted through the ZOOM portal and was scheduled on a Sunday keeping in mind the convenience of working parents so that they too could attend the same at ease.

This was the first interaction session of the existing and new parents and this was a great opportunity for parents to know about the GIIS Academic objectives and goals - with the vision and the numerous learning objectives such as new initiatives, ECA, CCA, Blended learning, and several other areas for the holistic development for students as shared by Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna, Principal, GIIS Hadapsar. Meanwhile, the academic coordinator addressed the parents and introduced all the teachers, virtually. Teachers highlighted the code of conduct, which is to be maintained during online classes. In this regard, she requested the cooperation of the parents.

The Orientation started with the Principal ma’am addressing the parents and spoke about the commencement of the new academic session from 5th April. She spoke at length about the benefits of effective communication between teachers and parents and laid emphasis on a strong connection with the school patrons. She even sought support and suggestions from the parents to offer the best education & growth opportunities to the students of the school, and along with that, she shared few tips on good parenting. Moving further, she also spoke in detail about various ways of nurturing a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future. The objective of this orientation was to acquaint the parents with the new academic session and the GIIS system. The topic covered during orientation included ZOOM, myGIIS, Google classroom, Academics, Value Added Programs, Extra and Co-curricular clubs, Sports, and various languages offered.

The orientation programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in enlightening the parents to look after and guide their kids properly. It also helped in progressing a common teaching strategy and facilitated the parents in recognizing suitable follow-up procedures to strengthen the learning process of their respective kids.
