We are thrilled to announce that Aarav Sancheti, a talented 7th-grade student from GIIS Hadapsar, has been selected as one of the eight players to represent India in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation World Under 17 snooker championship. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place in Riyadh from July 7, and Aarav's inclusion is a remarkable achievement for the young prodigy.
At just 12 years old, he will be the youngest Indian participant in the championship, showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport. It is a testament to his immense talent and the hard work he has put into honing his skills for the game. As a national-level snooker player, Aarav has participated in numerous prestigious tournaments across the country. He has consistently showcased outstanding caliber and sportsmanship by earning several accolades and recognitions.
Aarav's passion for snooker is evident in his commitment to the sport while he also enjoys swimming and bike riding. Awards and accolades started pouring in in 2019 when he received his first award as the youngest player at a snooker club in Bangalore. Recently, he bagged a silver medal at Maharashtra State Junior Snooker Championship, in 2022. He is Maharashtra State’s No.2 and India's No 4-snooker player in the junior and sub-junior categories.
Aarav owes his success to the guidance and mentorship of Yasin Merchant, an Arjuna Awardee from Pune, who has played a pivotal role in shaping his snooker journey. Merchant's expertise and experience have undoubtedly played a significant role in Aarav's development as a player.
As Aarav prepares for his international debut, we extend our best wishes and support to him. Representing India on a global stage is a remarkable accomplishment, and we have no doubt that Aarav will give his best and make his country proud. His selection for the championship is a testament to his talent, hard work, and dedication. We hope that this opportunity will serve as a stepping stone for his bright future in the world of snooker.
Good luck, Aarav!
