On January 20th, Students of grade III-V observed Happiness Day in the school. The objective was to allow students to understand the value of happiness and how it can contribute in refining their quality of life. They were told about the importance of leading a healthy and happy life as opposed to being laden over by economic statuses or stress of a daily life. Fun filled activities were planned for them. Students thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Move and freeze’ dance followed by the laughter Yoga.
Secondary segment observed Happiness Week from January 16 to 20. They were told that often in life we get spiraled in achievements, recognitions, our next step, etc and in between juggling everything we forget we were supposed to live happily. The first day was for Self happiness, because in rendering everyday needs, we get off track and don’t ask for help ourselves when we’re in dire need of it. We ignore the mere fact that happiness begins from us, from inside and only then can our outer being be happier. To instill the lesson that it’s not hard to be happy, rather our small and simple choices can do that for us. To support this, a poem ‘My choice’ was recited in the assembly. The song ‘All You Need’ was sung to refer to the friendships that make us who we are.
At last, ‘Happiness of Others’ was the theme for the last day of the celebrations. We as a society can be happy and hence, we together can make it happen. To have kindness, empathy and compassion for others makes our lives easier and happier. To support this, the inspirational story of Dr. Howard Kelly was shared along with the poem ‘Ho sake Toh’.
